A woman gets an old dog and discovers it was her “best friend” as a child.
This story about a woman getting back together with the dog she loved as a child but had to give up is so touching that you could call it a fairy tale.
Nicole Grimes got a puppy named Chloe from her grandma when she was 10.
“When Nana gave her to me, she had a pink bow on. Grimes told the BBC, “We were best friends.”

Grimes was 14 when her father got a job in customer service. He worked from their home in Marianna, Pennsylvania. Chloe barked a lot, which could have cost her dad his job.
The family made the hard choice to try to find Chloe a new home. They took her to the local cat shelter when that didn’t work.
Grimes told TODAY that she wasn’t mad at her parents because she knew this was hard for them too. “I was really sad, though, because I loved the dog,” she said.
Over the next few years, Grimes thought a lot about Chloe. She and her mom talked a lot about Chloe, and she said, “I always remembered that her birthday was October 26.”
Grimes has recently been thinking about getting a dog of her own. She is now married, works as a pharmacy trainee, and is 21 years old. She and her husband have a baby girl who is 4 months old. Grime’s family lives in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, which is about 30 minutes from where he grew up.
Grimes thought it would be a good time to adopt when her daughter turned 1. Then, about two weeks ago, a Facebook friend shared pictures of an old dog she wanted to give away. The small grey dog looked almost exactly like the dog Grimes had as a child.

“It made me think of my old dog. “I decided to take her in because of that,” Grimes said.
The name of this new dog was also Chloe. But that wasn’t all they had in common.
Grimes’ childhood pet would have been 11 years old, which is how old Chloe was. Even the way that Chloe and this Chloe acted was the same. They both kissed a lot and had a lot of energy.

Grimes said the only difference was that this Chloe was smaller and had no teeth.
Grimes’s husband didn’t think this was the same dog. She thought otherwise, though, and took Chloe to the vet. A check of the dog’s microchip proved that it was {Grimes’ dog, Chloe.

She is also glad that Chloe has been happy in the years since she moved out. She found out that Chloe has lived with an older couple for most of the last seven years. They died, so she moved in with a neighbour who was a Facebook friend of Grimes.
Grimes said, “She really lived a great life.” “A very loved dog.”
Chloe is still loved very much. She is getting close to Grimes’ daughter, which is “so cute to watch.”
Even though Chloe still barks sometimes, it’s not a big deal. In fact, there aren’t that many problems these days.
“I felt like I had won the lottery,” Grimes said. “I thought I’d never see her again.”
