Losing a beloved animal can be a heart-wrenching experience, but eventually, the wound will heal and it may be time to open your heart to a new pet. Steve Grieg knows this all too well, as he lost his own dog a few months ago and struggled to move on from the loss.
Determined to give an elderly, unwanted dog a loving home, Steve visited the animal shelter in his town and asked for the “least desirable” dog. He ended up bringing home ten senior dogs, each with its own unique personality and disposition. Steve has an Instagram account full of photos of his dogs and their everyday antics, and he has gained thousands of followers who love to see the joy and love he brings to these neglected animals.
Caring for ten senior dogs is no easy task, and Steve wakes up at 5 a.m. every day to prepare a big meal for all of them, each with its own specific dietary needs. He takes them on walks, makes vet appointments, and spends the rest of the day showering them with love and attention. Despite the hard work, Steve finds great joy in being responsible for the happiness of these dogs and knows that his love and care is making a difference in their lives.
In addition to the dogs, Steve also has a pet pig named Bikini, ducks, pigeons, chickens, and cats, turning his backyard into a veritable animal farm. While he can’t take in any more senior dogs at the moment, he plans to build more space so that no shelter dog ever has to feel unwanted or unloved again.
