While on a professional trip to Belize, photographer Wesley White made the decision to visit the small island of Thatch Caye. Upon arriving, he spotted a starving dog entering a fishing house.
Despite the dog’s emaciated state, it was still friendly and wagged its tail when Wesley called out for others. Recognizing the dog’s dire situation, Wesley knew he had to act fast in order to save its life. He placed the dog in a kayak and paddled back to the hotel he was staying at, where he immediately called for help.
The community rallied around the dog, providing food and medical care, and it was eventually placed in a foster home. After two months, the dog was ready to make the journey to Dallas to join Wesley in his new home. The dog, now named Winston, is thriving in his new home with Wesley and his other companions.
Wesley and Winston were brought together by chance and were able to find each other again after a long journey. The touching story shows the bond that can form between a human and a dog, even in the most unexpected of circumstances.
