Michi might look like a happy, cuddly teddy bear, but that wasn’t always the case. Michi was walking around the streets of Bali with a painful and life-threatening head injury when we found her. We knew she needed to get to a vet right away, but when we tried to help her, she ran into a drain and buried herself deep inside it!
We waited for 3 hours in the gutter for the rescue crew to come. It looked like hope and a little bit of smoke were the only things that could get her out.Michi was walking around the streets of Bali with a painful and life-threatening head injury when we found her.
When she finally got to the vet, the hole in her head turned out to be full of maggots. We didn’t know if it was caused by a person or by a fight between her and another dog. All we knew was that she needed help.At Mission Pawsible, our main goal is to help dogs relax by giving them a safe, quiet, and calm place to rest, which is usually in our own homes.
We start their treatment based on what’s wrong with them, like a skin condition, and make sure they eat a healthy raw diet with supplements to boost their immune system. Keeping a strong routine, like when to eat, go for a walk, or go to sleep, also helps them get used to their new home and calm down. We also find that other healthy, fully vaccinated dogs help people who have been through a lot heal faster.
When newly rescued dogs see how other dogs and people treat each other, they learn how to get along with others and trust people.Because her fur was covered in blood, dirt, and bugs, the vets had to cut it off. Still not happy, but gradually getting better and returning to full health.
Michi was moved to a foster home, but when she got sick, she was found to have parvovirus. This virus is very contagious and can be spread by coming into direct or indirect contact with a dog that has it. Michi could have caught it before she went to the clinic, and the shot could have made it show up, or she could have caught it in the clinic. This is why there is a need for foster homes that are safe and secure.
Michi was old and had a strong immune system, which helped her fight the virus and save her life. She has grown into the beautiful mix of Maltese and other breeds that she has always been.
The day Michi met Saffron, who would become her mom, was very sweet. We all started crying when she met her perfect match.
Michi now lives in Bali with Garscon, Saffron’s another rescue dog. The three of them make a pretty special little family.Let’s say that everyone who wants to adopt is carefully checked out, starting with an online application. Once we get the application, we call the person to finalize more important details and find out how interested and committed they really are in getting a new pet. We need to do a full check of the house to make sure that it is fully fenced and safe.
When Saffron drove for an hour and a half to meet Michi, they hit it off right away. As we sat in the clinic where Michi was still getting better from parvo, it was clear from the start that they were close. We all cried, and I just knew that Michi was going to be happy here. Now, she lives the best life she can with her mom Saffron and her brother Garscon, whom she helped save. Michi is happy with her new life at the beach and with the people she’s met there.
