Hollywood seems constantly full of love. However, it’s well known that many relationships in show business don’t last that long. Fortunately, that’s not been the case with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. No, they share a bond that seems unbreakable.
The two have been together for almost four decades, and the story of how it all started is lovely. Yet they never married, and to this day, the couple has no plans to tie the knot officially.

One couple that makes me happier than the rest, however, is Kurt Russell, 73, and Goldie Hawn, 78.
Goldie and Kurt have been together for 41 years. They’ve been superstars on the big screen for a long time and have shared a loving relationship and devotion to their family.
The iconic and long-lasting couple’s commitment to each other is remarkable, and their love story through the years is even more incredible.
Goldie and Kurt first met in 1966 while filming The Only and Only, Genuine Original Family Band. Hawn recalled the meeting in an interview with BBC Radio 4.
“I was 21 and he was 16,” Hawn said. “I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young. Then, years later we met up again, and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him. We both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell.”
However, they weren’t ready to start dating.
Goldie Hawn married actor Gus Trikonis in 1969, but the couple separated after four years.
She was granted a divorce in June 1976 and married Bill Hudson some weeks later – a marriage that lasted six years.
How did Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell meet?
In 1983, Russell and Hawn met again while filming Swing Shift.
This time, the charming and handsome Russell tried to impress Hawn with the pick-up line: “Man, you’ve got a great figure.”
“I was severely hungover and I didn’t know Goldie at all outside of having worked with her those many years before,” Russell said in a 2017 interview with Conan O’Brien.
“I just didn’t have in my mind what I was going to see, and she had a great body. So the first thing that came out was, ‘Man, you’ve got a great figure.’ It came out quickly and it could’ve gone wrong, and she said, ‘Why thank you.’”
At the time, Goldie had two children from her marriage with Bill Hudson. Her son Oliver was born in 1976, and her daughter Kate was born in 1979.
While filming Swing Shift, Kurt and Goldie went out together one night after work. He brought her to The Playboy Club, where they spent hours and hours talking. Afterward, they decided to move the party to a new house that Hawn had bought. The only problem? She didn’t have the keys, which resulted in the two breaking in.
The police arrived later, but it made for an iconic first date. Following that, nothing could split the two lovebirds.

“It was the first time she brought him home to the house, wasn’t their first date, but it’s a beautiful story,” Kate said.
“We were living in deep Malibu and mum said that was when she fell in love with Kurt, right away, because she bought him back to the house and we were already asleep.”
“I remembered everything and why I fell in love”
Kate and Oliver were sharing a room when Kurt walked in and sat down next to the children.
“He sat down next to you [Oliver] first, and watched you sleep. Then came by to me. I believe he watched me longest,” Kate explained.
“According to the story when mum tells me the story. I was the last one he was watching and was there for longer.”
One thing led to another, and Kurt and Goldie welcomed their son, Wyatt Russell, in 1986. Meanwhile, Kurt Russell also has a son, Boston Russell, born in 1980, from his marriage to ex-wife Season Hubley.
The couple has had great careers in show business and is still acting in movies. According to reports, they don’t usually watch the films they’ve starred in. They made an exception to that rule once, however.
In 1987, they starred in the movie Overboard and later watched it together to remind themselves of their beautiful relationship.

Speaking with Cosmopolitan Magazine, as quoted by the Associated Press, back in 1986, Hawn explained why she and Kurt never married. For her, marriage is “ridiculous.”
“We’re very happy,” she said, expecting her third child at the time.
“The child is getting the name Hawn Russell. The kids are happy, and Kurt brought me a beautiful ring to symbolize our love.”
“Actually, owning a home, splitting down the middle – none of that really matters. You have to negate it and move on,” she added. “Otherwise, what are you investing in? Concepts, but concepts are broken with the snap of a finger. That’s why I think marriage is ridiculous.”
To celebrate seven years together, Kurt bought Hawn a wonderful ring for his soulmate, and she had it on her wedding finger. The couple even had a little ceremony.
“Well, we had a little ceremony, but it wasn’t a marriage ceremony. No, God, no. We’re far, far too together for that,” Goldie said.
Goldie then told Woman’s Day in 2007: “We have done just perfectly without marrying. I already feel devoted, and isn’t that what marriage is supposed to do?”
Eight grandchildren
Despite all this, Goldie has revealed that she has referred to Kurt as her husband from time to time. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Goldie said that she did refer to Russell as her husband instead of lover or boyfriend but that they had an ongoing discussion on what they should call each other.
Winfrey mentioned that having a piece of paper saying you are married isn’t the most important thing.
“It won’t. It won’t. And Kurt and I both feel that way. If you leave the door open, you’ll never walk out of it, sometimes if you close the door and there is a sense of finality, that a lot of things happen to people,” Goldie said.
The last decades, indeed, have been remarkable for the Hawn-Russells.
They’ve welcomed no less than eight grandchildren, and via Instagram, they can be seen giving their love to the smallest members of their family. Kurt, meanwhile, revealed that their grandchildren don’t call them grandma and grandpa. Instead, they go by Gogo and Gogi.

On the April 15 episode of SiriusXM’s Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Goldie Hawn explained that the couple disagreed on some things. Meanwhile, she revealed what the “sticking glue of our relationship” has always been.
“We don’t agree on everything. His politics are different than mine. You know, there’s all these things that could divide you. But the one thing that we have, the greatest thing in God’s world, is our family,” Hawn said
“That is where we thrive and where we have incredible amounts of joy and really focus on that.”
The longtime actress continued: “I can’t explain it, but he was the one for me. It wasn’t just because he was sexy and handsome and all of those things you get turned on by; it was because he matched my devotion to children to be number one.”
